Mary Ann Curtin, 83, of Medina, NY, was surrounded by family as she went to be with the Lord, on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at Buffalo General Hospital. Born on October 21, 1932 in Medina, NY, she was the daughter of the late William and Anna (Piatek) Balcerzak. Mary Ann graduated from Medina High School in 1950 and married the late Thomas Curtin. Together they raised eight children and worked the family farm on Taylor Hill Rd. She also worked in the office at Orleans Correction, retiring in 1990. She was a former member of Sacred Heart Church; serving on the Alter Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Western Orleans Senior Citizens. Mary Ann enjoyed playing cards, crafts, traveling, and listening to Blues Music. Her greatest pleasure came from spending time with friends and family, especially time with her grandchildren. Mary Ann is survived by eight children, Charles (Donna) Curtin of Farmingdale, NY; Maureen (James) Misiti of Lyndonville, NY; Daniel (Patricia) Curtin of Castleton, NY; Sandra (Leo Della Vecchia) of Mebane, NC; John (Cindy) Curtin of Medina, NY; Gary (Kathryn) Curtin of Medina, NY; Patricia (Don Jones) Curtin of Cincinnatus, NY; Paul (Karen) Curtin of Medina, NY; fifteen grandchildren, Thomas (Aisling), Erin, Nicklaus (Lara), Patrick (Sarah), Patrick, Anna, Timothy (Melissa), Erica (Joshua), Kelly (Jonathan), Gary (Phil), Kenny, Michelle, Zachery, and Kalie. Mary Ann had five great-grandchildren, Devon, Derek, Cormac, Isabelle, and Flannery. A brother, Arthur Balcerzak and two sisters, Genevieve Dujenski and Margaret Onan survive along with her best friend, Bobby Dellinger of Medina, NY. Besides her husband Thomas, Mary Ann is predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Balschmitter and three brothers, John, William Jr. and Richard Balcerzak. Relatives and friends may call on Friday, October 7, 2016 from 6-8 PM at the Bogan & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St. Medina, NY 14103. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Parish/St. Mary’s Church, West Ave. Medina, NY with the Pastor, Rev. Daniel J. Fawls celebrating. Burial will be private for the family.
