After 95 wonderful years, Wilma J. Hurtgam entered into heaven on Friday, May 22, 2026 surrounded by her loving family and friends. Wilma was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Ronald Edward Hurtgam, their second child, David, parents Mildred and William Bayles, siblings William (Joyce) Bayles, Edith (Jim) Faery, and Shirley (John) Hartman.
Her memory lives on through her brother Steven (Sue) Bayles, children Keith (Darlene) Hurtgam, Katherine Frost, Karen (Robert) Boyle, Karyl (Richard) Miller, Lora (Jeffrey) Partyka, Michael Hurtgam, and Barbara Hurtgam. Fourteen grandchildren, Chad (Catherine) Hurtgam, Jeffrey (Debra) Frost, Katie (Noah) Raymond, Jason (Stacy) Boyle, Amanda (Thomas) Detschner, David (Hristo) Frost, Kimberly Stoll, Derek (Colleen) Boyle, Jamie (David) Schwab, Steven (Cathlin) Partyka, Megan (Andrew) Hyatt, Kristina Hurtgam, Scott (Kathleen) Partyka, Matthew Hurtgam (Jessica). Along with lifelong memories for her 26 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Wilma dedicated her life and love to her family, friends and to the success of the Hurtgam Farm in Barker, NY. She is remembered for her beautiful singing voice from the back pew of the Hartland Methodist Church, fresh baked chocolate chip cookies, homemade apple sauce, pies, loving hugs, and never-ending strength. She had a heart of gold, welcomed everyone with home-cooked meals and love. She was adored by many and will truly be missed.
She was a dedicated member of the Hartland Corners Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Hartland Corners Methodist Church, Alzheimer Research Association and the Hartland Fire Hall.
There are no calling hours. Family and friends may attend Wilma’s funeral service on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at 10:00 AM the Hartland Corners Methodist Church, 8017 Ridge Rd, Gasport, NY 14067. Burial will be in the Hartland Central Cemetery.
