Theresa Marie "Pooh-Bear" Shay

Theresa M. “Pooh Bear” Shay, 69, of Lyndonville, NY, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 27, 2026, at her home.

Born on October 3, 1956, in Xenia, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Delores (Sebastian) Layne.

She lived and worked in Springfield, Ohio, before moving to New York. On November 7, 2001, she married Timothy Shay, and together, they made their home in Lyndonville. Theresa was a down-home country girl who loved anything to do with horses and roses.

She is survived by her husband, Timothy; her siblings, Steven (Julie) Layne of S. Charleston, OH, Brenda Stephenson, and John Layne, both of Springfield, OH; and several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. 

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother-in-law, David Stephenson.

As per Theresa’s wishes, there are no calling hours. A private service will be held at the family's convenience.
