Scott A. Heiligenthaler, 65, of Medina, NY, passed away on Friday, March 19, 2021, at home after a long courageous battle with cancer, with his loving family at his side.
Born on January 17, 1956, in Medina, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph and Lois (Dillion) Heiligenthaler. Scott graduated from Medina High School in 1974 and received his Bachelor Degree in Science from Syracuse University. He worked as an self-employed Accountant, while working other business ventures. For over 25 years, Scott found extreme joy in referring basketball for the IAABO Group #53 and was a member of the Buffalo and Rochester Orienteering Club. Scott was one of the biggest Syracuse University Basketball fans in Medina.
Scott is survived by his wife of ten years, Peggy J. Heilgenthaler, his four children Matthew (Katie), D.Adam (Nicole), Jason and Joelle. Also leaving to mourn are his two step-sons Bradley McMurray and Andrew (Jenna) McMurray, a grandson Bryson, a step-granddaughter Natalie, two brothers Paul and David (Beth) and his first wife Carol.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Scott’s name to Rochester Orienteering ℅ Don Windslow, 4800 Eddy Ridge Road, Marion NY 14505 and Buffalo Orienteering ℅ Henry Davis, 70 Fox Chapel Road, Williamsville NY 14221.
There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at the Millville Cemetery on East Shelby Road, Medina NY. Masks and social distancing will be required.
