Michael Earle “Mike” Goheen, 78, of Lyndonville, New York, passed away at home on September 9, 2026.
Mike was born on April 24, 1948, to Norman and Marian (Dunham) Goheen.
He proudly served in the United States Navy, including assignments in Guam and Morocco, and was honorably discharged following his service. He spent most of his working life in the airline industry, first with Braniff and later with American Airlines, where he worked until his retirement. Mike will be remembered as funny, fun-loving, generous, and always willing to lend a helping hand. He also had a style all his own. Whether it was one of his famously colorful shirts, a pair of wild socks, or his signature ivory “old man” cap, Mike rarely blended into the background—especially on the pickleball court. He enjoyed sailing, pickleball, crocheting, crafting, reading, playing cards, cheering on the Buffalo Bills, and spending time at the lake. He was also known for making homemade treats during the holidays for family and friends. After the passing of his wife, Sandy Goheen, mother of Darin, Dawn, and Jamie Hines, Mike made the lake his home for the last five years, where he found both enjoyment and community. Faith, friendship, and service were important parts of Mike’s life. He valued his time with the Knights of Columbus and the Sacred Heart community. As a veteran himself, he was especially proud of volunteering his time to drive fellow veterans to medical appointments, a meaningful way he continued serving others long after his own military service had ended.
Mike is survived by his son, Patrick Goheen; his first wife, Donnette Goheen; His late, second wife, Sandy’s children, Darin Hines and his wife, Bonnie; Dawn Hines; and Jamie Hines. His grandchildren are Mazden, Joeb, Tanner, Brody, Audrey, Kade, William, Ryann Grace, and Christopher. Mike is survived by his brother, Mark Goheen (Ellen); his sister, Mary Zangerle (Tom); and his nieces and nephews, Michelle Goheen; Jeffrey Goheen (Anita); Janie Goheen; Evan Zangerle (Dawn); Andrew Zangerle; Brett Goheen (Julia); and Jenna Goheen (Marcus).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Marian Goheen; his wife, Sandy Goheen; his brother, Norm Goheen; and his niece, Kara Goheen.
