Martha R. Adkins, 67, of Medina, NY, entered into rest on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at the Orchard Manor Nursing Home, Medina, after a long illness.
Born on August 25, 1951 in Albion, NY, she was the daughter of Irene (Goodwin) Smith and the late Richard Smith.
Martha met and married Jerry Adkins Sr. while working at Karaz Farms in Elba, NY. Throughout her life, she worked various jobs which included being a bartender at Shay’s, working at Associated Brands, and at a home daycare. Martha was past member of the Shelby’s Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed playing bingo, camping, knitting and sewing. Martha also loved spending time with her family and numerous grandchildren.
Besides her mother, Irene, Martha is survived by her husband Jerry Adkins Sr., eight children, Tammy (Joseph) Gall of Deland, FL; Veronica (Chuck) Harris of Lockport, NY; Audra Hughes of Cheektowaga, NY; Chuck (Jennifer) Hughes of Medina, NY; Jason (Sarah) Hughes of Albion, NY; David (Kristie) Hughes of Lyndonville, NY; Jerry Adkins Jr. and Scott (Renee) Adkins, all of Medina, NY; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, siblings, Betty Ann (Lonnie) Froman of Medina, NY; Susan (Ron Roth) Smith of Albion, NY; Dennis (Tammy) Smith of N. Carolina; Richard Smith of W. Virginia; James (Sharon) Smith of Albion, NY; many nieces and nephews and good friends Gary (Peggy) William and their daughter Corina Sword of Medina, NY.
Besides her father, Martha is predeceased by a sister, Mary O. Smith and a grandson, Brian McMaster.
Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, February 7, 2019, from 6-8 PM at the Bogan & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St. Medina, NY 14103, where a funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in the Millville Cemetery in the spring.
