Lois Klatt Obituary

Lois Arlene Nobles Klatt went home peacefully to Jesus on May 26th, 2026 at the age of 95. Lois was surrounded by family and friends throughout her weeklong hospital stay after sustaining a major stroke. Lois lived a life of love and service to all she knew. She leaves a legacy of love as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, friend, neighbor, and co-worker.

Lois was born at her home in Ithaca, NY November 11, 1930, the daughter of Leo and Lulu Nobles. Her growing up years with her 5 older siblings and friends included memories of playing hopscotch, croquet, roller skating, and ball in the street. She spent her summers helping her dad pile cut wood in his woodlot, delivering the wood together, and traveling the countryside picking up packed egg cases from farms to be sold in NYC. This love of country instilled in a city girl prepared her for 39 years of marriage to her love, Paul Klatt of Lyndonville, NY. Together Paul and Lois raised their 4 children on the farm, raising sheep and growing various crops.

As the children grew and farm life slowed down, Lois worked outside the home at Fisher Price in Medina, as a Correction Officer at the Western Reformatory for Women in Albion, and in 1972 became the Orleans County Deputy Treasurer where she worked for 20 years. She always found time to continue her hobbies and service of gardening, knitting, quilting, teaching Sunday School, a 4-H leader with Paul, writing letters and cards to family and friends, and sharing fresh cut and arranged bouquets of flowers from her gardens. She continued to sew quilts for the Lutheran World Relief Quilt Ministry until the day she had her stroke.

Lois is survived by her children, Thomas (Kathy) Klatt, Stephen Klatt (Lori Boseck), and Mary (Nate) Schlabach, daughter-in-law, Bonnie Klatt, along with 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her five siblings, husband Paul Klatt, their 3 stillborn babies, oldest son John Klatt, and granddaughter Rachel Schlabach.

She is loved and cherished and will be missed by many.

“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.” Psalm 116:15
