Obituary

Lawrence Henry (Larry) Bogan, went to be with the Lord on August 21, 2021 at Navarre Gardens of Navarre, Florida, and formerly of South Trenton, NY. He was 91 years old.

Mr. Bogan was born in Utica, NY on Aug. 8, 1930 to Lawrence and Gertrude (Kommer) “Tid” Bogan on Aug. 8, 1930. He graduated from Utica Free Academy High School and attended Cornell University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences in Ithaca, NY. Mr. Bogan faithfully served his country in the United States Army from 1954 – 1956. On November 17, 1956, he married Teresa Daley.

Mr. Bogan was a plumber and pipefitter, and member of UA Local 79 of Utica, NY and UA Local 112 of Binghamton, NY. He was President of South Trenton Community Association and President of South Trenton Cemetery. Mr. Bogan was a member of St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church, Utica, NY and long-time member of Utica Maennerchor in Marcy, NY.

Larry had a great love for living life to its fullest. His smile and sense of humor was immeasurable as well as his generous kind spirit and giant heart. Larry never met a stranger. He treated everyone with kindness and dignity with a smile on his face while also putting a smile on yours. Larry loved life and lived it large.

Mr. Bogan is survived by his 5 children and spouses: Cynthia Lehr (Corey) of Mahopac, NY, Sharon Petrella (Dan) of Liverpool, NY, John (Jacque) of Williams Bay, WI, Linda Summers (John) of Navarre, FL, Michael of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, and a former daughter-in-law, Donna Bogan, of Ramstein, Germany. Mr. Bogan had 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Roseanne Hunsinger of Modesto, CA, Gregory (Norma Jean) Bogan of Orlando, FL and Nancy Bogan of Utica, NY. He is preceded in death by Teresa, his lovely wife of 33 years, who passed away suddenly in 1990. His siblings, J. Francis, Robert, Donald, Mary Lou (Maier) and William also predeceased him.

Relatives and friends may call from 4PM-6PM on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Heintz Funeral Services, 408 Herkimer Rd. Utica, NY 13502. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 13th, 2021 at Historic Old St. John’s Church, 240 Bleecker St. Utica, NY 13501. Burial will be at South Trenton Cemetery with full military honors.
