Kenneth J. Caleb

Kenneth J. Caleb, 95, of Shelby, NY, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at the Medina Memorial Hospital.

Born on April 4, 1931, in Shelby, NY, he was the son of the late Edwin and Corrine (Reed) Caleb.

Kenneth grew up on the family farm, working in the Shelby muck. In 1955, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, working as a Roads & Grounds Specialist, building runways and airfields. Just before entering the Service, he married the former Marilyn Pratt, and together, they raised three children. After returning home, Kenneth worked for the Town of Shelby Highway Department and later for Keeler Construction Company for over 30 years, retiring in 1995. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.

He is survived by his children, Candy (Edwin) Koch; Wade (Bonnie) Caleb; and Shorty Caleb. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Heather Koch Banker, Kris (Mary Beth) Koch, Brian (Holly) Koch, Noah, Dustin, and Markie Caleb; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife Marilyn, Kenneth is predeceased by eleven siblings. Per Kenneth’s wishes, there are no calling hours, and a private service will be held at the convenience of the family, with full military honors.
