John T. (Jake) Grehlinger, 74, passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at the VA of Western New York Batavia.
Born on September 25, 1944 in N. Tonawanda NY, he was the son of the late Myron and Dorothy (Riter) Grehlinger.
John grew up in Lyndonville and enlisted in the U.S Army, serving in Vietnam from 1963 to 1966. Upon returning home, he worked for several companies, including Browns Fruit Farm, Abex, S.A.Cook Furniture, Peters Hardware and lastly at the parts counter with Crosby-Whipple. John enjoyed attending the Lyndonville Presbyterian Church and loved to go sail boating. He also was a collector of automobiles and had a love of all types of music.
He is survived by a brother-in law, Roland Howell of Medina NY, a nephew Peter Howell of Fairport, NY. He is also survived by many good friends including Eric and Michelle Harling of Lyndonville, NY.
John is predeceased by a brother Peter, two sisters Jean Howell, Marilyn Blackwood, and a niece Claudia Allevato.
There are no calling hours. A graveside committal will be held on Wednesday July 31, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Lynhaven Cemetery, with the Rev. Martha Mitchell officiating. Full Military Honors will be accorded.
Memorials may be made in John’s name to Orleans County Joint Veterans Council, 13996 Route 31, Albion, NY 14411.
