Donald L. Cherry, 80, born on September 23, 1945 and was laid to rest on July 26, 2026, with his loving family at his side.
He was the son of the late Hazel (Oliver) and Leon Cherry, and husband of Cheryl (Mote) Cherry, and was father to Pam Cherry, Kimberly Jones, James (Brenda) Cherry, Jeff (Betty) Cherry and Jason (Lisa) Cherry. Many grandchildren that were numbered, 1. Saira (Brian) Borsching, 2. Rayleen (Tom) Fergen, 3. Jessie (Megan) Fergen, 4. Jayvon (Megan) Cherry, 5. Jerrell (Marissa) Cherry, 6. Zachary (Gillian) Jones, 7. Kiara Cherry, 8. Jeffrey (Reyann) Cherry, 9. Little Betty Cherry, 10. Aiden Cherry, 11. Sophia Cherry, 12. Haley Cherry, 13. Destiny Cherry, Aad great-grandchildren, Nalani Cherry, Jerrell Cherry, and Madilyn Fergen. Donald leaves behind three brothers, Kenny (Shirley) Cherry, Roger (Judy) Cherry, and David (Lori) Cherry. Also surviving are his nieces and nephews, Kimberly Cherry, Mikaela Cherry, Daniel Cherry, Crystal Cherry, Justin Cherry and Sean Cherry.
Donald is predeceased by his siblings, Joe Cherry, Judy Cherry, and Rosie Cherry and a nephew, Michael Cherry.
Donald was drafted in the U.S. Army in 1965 in California and after serving he returned back to Medina, NY. He was employed at ABEX of Medina, and worked various other odd job’s including Dunn’s Junkyard, Intergrow, and as a driver for Marlenes Sub Shop.
Relatives and friends may call on Saturday August 1st, 2026, from 2PM-3PM at the Oak Orchard Assembly of God Church, 12111 Ridge Rd, Medina, NY 14103, where a funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM. Relatives and friends may attend his burial on Monday, August 3rd, at 11:00 AM, at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Salt Works Rd, Shelby, NY. Full military honors will be accorded. Memorials may be made in Donald’s name to the Oak Orchard Assembly God Church or to Hospice of Orleans, 14080 NY-31, Albion, NY 14411.
