Angeline “Angie” Nadia Tobin died gracefully while embraced by family at the Martin-Linsin
Residence of the Hospice of Orleans County on August 29, 2024.
Angie was born on August 9, 1928 in Hamilton, Ontario to Leon A. Musik and Aniela
(Rawski) Musik. It was Angie’s good fortune that her father, Leon, was a concert violinist and
teacher which resulted in her beginning violin lessons at the age of 3 on a 1/16 size violin made
especially for her in England. She participated in many studio recitals for the next 10 years.
Angie was a voracious reader and, when the weather was good, would spend many hours
under a tree indulging in that love! She and her sister spent many happy days with their
mother’s family which included her Babcia, Dziadzia, aunts, and uncles. In 1939, Angie’s father
joined the Canadian Army for counterintelligence in England and Europe under the guise of the
leader of The Kit Kats, a dance band.
The Musik family moved to Philadelphia in 1945 and Angie began studies at Temple
University. She worked in a laboratory investigating newly discovered antibiotics such as
streptomycin and graduated with an A. B. in Biology. While working as a lab T.A., Angie met her
future husband, John Sylvester Tobin, who was a medical student. They married in 1949. She
continued working in the labs until the birth of their first child, Leonore. Angie spent the next 18
years of her life as the world’s greatest mom (AKA “Mom the Magnificent”) and exposed her 5
children to the arts, books, and, of course, humor. Her children were enriched by lessons in tap,
ballet, horseback riding, figure skating, and many, many musical instruments.
In the late 1960’s Angie returned to college to obtain an M. Ed. in Special Education.
She used her degree with elementary students at Towne Elementary School until the Tobin
family relocated to New Jersey in 1974. There, she worked with high school students teaching
critical and useful life skills as well as the prescribed curriculum. As an empty-nester, Angie
regained time for reading, playing in high school pit orchestras, taking folk dancing classes, and
honing her Polish language skills.
Following retirement, Angie, Jack, and Leonore moved to Oklahoma City to be close to
daughters Barbara and Jeanne and their families. In the early 2000’s both Jack and Leonore
passed away. In 2019, Angie moved back to Medina to live at The Willows Adult Home. As her
Alzheimer’s Disease progressed, Angie moved to the wonderful Memory Unit at The Villages at
Unity in Greece, NY. After a brief hospitalization, she transferred to The Martin-Linsin
Residence in Albion, NY where she enjoyed the loving care of the talented and dedicated
hospice staff over her final weeks of life.
Angeline is survived by her sister, Lee Freimiller of FL.; daughters Barbara Cardin of
Oklahoma City, Patricia (Duane) Payne of Medina, Jeanne (George) Borrelli of Albion; son
Gregory (Elizabeth) Tobin of Frederick, MD; grandchildren James Cardin, Christopher (Carolyn)
Payne, Elisa (Paul) Cox, David (Lauren) Payne, Michael (Brooke) Borrelli, John Tobin, and
Andrew (Harper) Tobin; her effervescent great-granddaughters Evelyn Payne and Isabella and
Makenzie Borrelli; and many special nieces and nephews.
Visitation hours will be 3:00-5:00 pm on Friday, September 20 in Bogan and Tuttle
