Mary E. Dona

Mary E. Dona, 71 of Medina, NY, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at the Martin-Linsin Residence, Albion, NY, with her loving family at her side.

Born on September 11, 1947 in Geneva, NY, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Lois (Steadman) Flick.

Mary married Gordon E. Dona on January 20, 1966. Gordon passed suddenly in 1969. Mary later met her companion and soulmate, the late Buzz E. Sheldon. Mary worked at the Willard State Hospital and later worked for the Orchard Manor Nursing Home, first as a Nurses Aid and then worked in Housekeeping. She had a deep caring for the residents that she cared for and took delight in making their stay more comfortable. Mary was known for being very crafty, especially in knitting, crocheting, needlework and cake decorating.

Mary is survived by seven children, Alice V. Seiple of Texas, Maevonne (Earnest) Luckman of Knowlesville, NY, Gerald (Cheryl) Dona of Albion, NY, Shelly McAdoo, Mark (Heather Kenward) Sheldon, John Sheldon and Cheryl Bearss, all of Medina, NY, sixteen grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, three siblings, Alice Case of Middleport, NY, Barbara Mearns of Alabama, Fred Flick of Elmira, NY, and numerous nieces and nephews. Also survived is Mary’s lifelong friend, Angelia Ferrer-Vega of Waterloo, NY.

Mary is predeceased by four brothers, John, James, Jerry and Tom Flick.

Relatives and friends may attend a memorial service at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the East Shelby Community Bible Church, 5278 E. Shelby Rd. Medina, NY 14103 with the Pastor, Rev. Erik Olsen officiating. Burial will be private for the family
