Laverne G. Ehrenreich, 90, of Medina, NY, went to with the Lord on Friday, March 10, 2017 at the Orchard Manor Nursing Home. Born on July 11, 1926 in Medina, NY, he was the son of the late Darwin and Cora (Amos) Ehrenreich. Laverne graduated from Medina High School and in 1944, enlisted in the U.S. Army and was part of the Maintenance Supply. Upon returning home in 1946, he was employed with Curvin’s News Shop while going to school at Bryant and Stratton. He then worked as a teller at the former Marine Midland Bank and lastly worked as Secretary at Medina Savings and Loan, working his way to Bank President and serving for many years on the Board of Directors. Laverne was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church of Medina, serving as Trustee, Elder, Clerk of Session and Treasurer. He was a 71 year member of the Butts-Clark Post # 204 American Legion and a 60 year member of the Medina Lodge #336 F & AM, where he served as Treasurer. Laverne was also a member of the American Red Cross. He was a devoted son to his mother and a proud member of the community. In his spare time, Laverne liked to cook and collect coins. He also had a real love of animals. He is survived his dear friends Patricia Rizzo and Lynn Houseman, both of Medina, cousins, Terri Jacobs of Medina, Jennifer Becking of Amherst, NY, Darcelle Amos of Buffalo, Mary Riley of Lyndonville and several other cousins, nieces and nephews. Laverne was also very good friends with all of the residents of Orchard Manor Nursing Home. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by a good friend, Elizabeth “Betty” Hassall. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the Bogan & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St. Medina, NY 14103. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church, 522 S. Main St. Medina, NY 14103. Burial will be in the Bates Rd. Cemetery with Military Honors being accorded by members of Butts-Clark Post #204 American Legion and Lincoln Post#1483 Veterans of Foreign Wars. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Laverne’s name to: First Presbyterian Church or to: Medina Fire Dept. 600 Main St. Medina, NY 14103.
