Frederick A. “Fred” Bodway, 73, of Lyndonville, NY, passed away after a long illness on Thursday, April 12, 2018, at the United Memorial Medical Center, Batavia, with his loving family at his side.
Born on December 9, 1944 in Syracuse, NY, he was the son of the late Antoine and Catherine (Sweeny) Bodway. On October 15th, 1966, Fred married the former Darlene Secore and on December 7, 1967, he served in the U.S. Army as a Paratrooper, jumping with 82nd Airborne in the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, Fred and Darlene made their home in Lyndonville and together they raised three sons. Fred worked various jobs including, Abex, Fisher-Price and lastly retiring from the Maintenance Dept. at Medina Memorial Hospital after 11 years of service. In his spare time, Fred enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Fred is survived by his wife of 52 years, Darlene Bodway, three sons, Tod (Kathy) Bodway of Ayden, North Carolina, Jeremy Bodway of Florida, and Patrick (Roger Manning) Bodway of Ayden, North Carolina. Also surviving are many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, four siblings, Peter (Dale) Bodway, Cathy Richards and Robert Bodway of Massena, NY and Randy (Debbie) Bodway of Malone, NY and many nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
