Donald D. “Donnie” DeMallie, 73 of Barker, NY, went home to Jesus on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at his home with his loving family at his side.
Born on January 21, 1945 in Rochester, NY, he was the son of the late Robert S. and Joan (Curran) DeMallie Bell.
Donald chose to serve his country by joining the U.S. Navy, serving two tours in Vietnam. Upon returning home, he married the love of his life, the former Judy Stiffler on July 8, 1967 and together raised three daughters. Donald worked various jobs including construction, and an instructor at the Iroquois Job Corp. and lastly at several power plants. He was also a scuba diver for Orleans County and a former Volunteer Fireman for the Town of Carlton. Donald was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Parish, serving as Eucharistic Minister and leading bible study. He also delivered home cooked meals for Niagara County Office of the Aging. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and raising horses. Most of all, Donnie enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially over a good scotch.
Donald is survived by his step mom, Loretta DeMallie of Rochester, his wife of 51 years, Judy, daughters, Ruby Lee (Brad) Hoffee of Lyndonville, NY, Treva Jo (Johnny) Buckert , Joy Anne DeMallie, all of Rochester, NY, grandchildren, Rebekah, Jacob, Johannah, Stella, siblings, Robert (Vickie) DeMallie of Lyndonville, NY, Joseph (Debbie) Bell of Arizona, Kimmarie (John) Simonsen of California, Marlene (Earl) Speanburg of Rochester, NY, Burt (Carol) Gage of Oklahoma, brother-in-law’s, John (Kathy) Stiffler of Texas, Larry (Colleen) Stiffler, sister-in-law’s, Mary (Don) Mueller, Dorry (Tom) Waydelis, all of Rochester, NY. Also, survived are many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, July 28, 2018 from 10-11AM at St. Patrick’s R.C. Church, 1726 Quaker Rd. Barker, NY 14012, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM with the Pastor, Rev. Bernard Nowak celebrating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
