Charles R. “Uncle Charlie” Axtell Jr. age 98, of Albion, NY entered into rest on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at the Villages of Orleans, Albion, NY.

Born on February 11, 1919 in the Town of Ridgeway, NY, he was the son of the late Charles R. and Elma Mary (Jackson) Axtell Sr.

Charlie worked on the family poultry farm and later worked for the NYS Canal Division as a bridge operator, retiring in the late 60’s. His favorite pastimes were reading the newspaper and socializing at Nurifair and later at Meals on Wheels.

Charlie is survived by one sister, Bernadine (Donald) Ross of Barre Center and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Charlie is predeceased by three sisters, Mildred Erway, Eloise Lane and Violet Beeton.

There are no calling hours. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Bates Road Cemetery, Medina.
