Carl “Corky” Mattus, 90, of Medina, NY, passed away peacefully at the North Wing of Medina Memorial Hospital on Sunday, November 12, 2017, surrounded by loved ones.

He was born on October 23, 1927, in Cheektowaga, NY, to the late Carl and Anna (Kalinowski) Mattus.

Carl worked for many years on the family farm growing vegetables for the Bailey Market. He later was employed by the Medina Central School District as a Head Custodian, retiring after 25 years. Carl loved playing and watching sports, doing lawn work, and gardening.

Carl is survived by his wife Marilyn, Children Holly Mattus (son-in-law Gordon Goeke) of Kensigton, MD; Nancy Mattus of Medina; and also several nieces and nephews. Carl is predeceased by his sister, Joyce Tuohey.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, November 17, 2017, at the Bogan & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St. Medina, NY 14103, from 4 PM-7 PM. A memorial service and burial will be held in the spring of 2018.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carl’s name to the Shelby Fire Co., P.O.Box#1, Medina, NY, 14103.

Carl’s family extends a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Medina Memorial Hospital Second Floor and North Wing for the wonderful care he received during his illness.
