Alfred C. Wells, 91, of Shelby, NY, entered into rest on Sunday, July 30,2017, peacefully at home with his loving family at his side.

Born on May 23,1926 in Shelby, NY, he was the son of the late Vincent and Cora (Bissel) Wells.

Alfred grew up in Shelby and enlisted in the U.S. Army, earning the rank of Corporal, working in Communications while stationed in Italy. Upon returning home, he married the former and late Elnora May Sprauge and together they raised two daughters. Alfred was employed at various foundry’s, including, Swett’s, Bignell’s and lastly retiring from Abex. He was a member of the Butts-Clark American Legion Post#204. Alfred enjoyed camping, hiking and fishing, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Alfred is survived by two daughters, Patricia (Paul) Sevenski of Middleport, Nora (John) Benfer of Lyndonville, five grandchildren, Chadwick Sevenski of Middleport and Jody Sevenski of Waterport, Robert Geret of Batavia, Jason and Yvonne Gerety, both of Lyndonville, 10 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren and his faithful dog, Ruby.

Besides his wife and parents, Alfred is predeceased by seven siblings.

There are no calling hours. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 4th, 2017 at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Shelby, with the Rev. Stanley A. Thurber officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by members of Butts-Clark Post #204 and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Lincoln Post #1483.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Alfred’s name to the Joint Veteran’s Council Van Service, 13996 Rt. 31 W, Albion, NY 14411.
