Willie B Conner Sr. of Medina NY passed away on June 27, 2016 at Medina Memorial Hospital under Hospice of Orleans County. Willie was born on January 24, 1942 in Edison Georgia to the late Bill and Jessie Lee Conner. Willie grew up with only a 3rd grade education. But that didn’t stop him from being a strong, hardworking, kind and loving man. Willie did everything with pride and integrity and led by example; his hobbies were fishing and cooking. He was well known for his ribs and cornbread stuffing. He also loved yardwork, gardening, and tree pruning. Willie loved life, his wife and children. He will always be remembered by his selflessness, kind heartedness, unwavering faith and his infectious smile. He took over the role as a father figure to his niece Angie Conner and Anthony Conner when their mother (Ann Conner) passed away. They will be forever grateful for this. Willie was a devout Jehovah Witness and servant for many years as a Ministerial Servant, a Literature Assistant and helped maintain the Kingdom Hall Theocratic Library. Willie will be loved and missed by many families and friends. He leaves to cherish in his memory his loving and devoted wife of 24 years, Burnessa Conner, 4 children; Willie (Serena) Conner Jr and Eric Conner of Newburgh NY, Patricia (Edward) Peterson of Albany NY and Maurice (Amber) Glasco of Medina NY; 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Lee Gadsden of Immokelee FL, and Kathy Conner and one brother, Charles E Conner, both of Ft Myers FL; his mother-n-law, Louise Askew of Medina NY; 4 sisters, Faye Garris of Buffalo NY, Tanya (Jimmie) Delphs of Toledo OH, Evonne Askew of Ysiplanti MI and Stephanie Askew of Medina NY; 5 brothers, Alan Settles and Anthony Settles both of Allentown PA, Carlos Garris of Rochester NY, Wesley Askew of Albion NY and Brandon Askew of Medina NY; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Besides his parents, Willie is predeceased by one daughter, Kathy Conner ; one granddaughter, Sholanda DeGrat; 3 sisters, Ann Conner, Minnie Lee Butts and Lillie Mae Frederick; and 2 brothers, Ernest Conner and Charles George Conner. The family will receive friends at Bogan & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl Street, Medina NY 14103 on Friday, July 1st from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A Memorial Service will be July 2nd at 1 pm at the Kingdom Hall, Stone Road, Middleport NY. After the Memorial Service, the family will receive everyone at the Conner home, 359 North Avenue, Medina NY 14103.
