Muriel Joyce Snyder, 98, of Medina, NY, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 10, 2016 at the Orchard Manor Nursing Home. Born on February 16, 1918, in Medina, NY, she was the daughter of the late Enos J. and Evelyn H. (Sadler) Tompkins. She graduated from Albion High School and received an Associate’s Degree in Geriatrics from Brockport College. She was married to the late Victor E. Whiting, who passed away in WWII and later married the late Joseph H. Snyder. She was a Cub Scout Leader for over 21years for the Lewiston Trail Council Pack 37, receiving the Distinguished Service Award and also served as Executive Director of Senior Citizens of Western Orleans. She earned her Nurse’s Aide Certification and volunteered at the Orleans County Health Department, Red Cross and Medina Hospital. She was a member of the Medina United Methodist Church, serving as Chairperson of the UNICEF Drive and Mission Program and in 1977 was named Outstanding Woman of the Year. She was an avid reader and enjoyed walking and visiting with friends. She is survived by four grandchildren: Victor Whiting of Oak Ridge, TN; Nicholas V. Whiting of Chattanooga, TN; Sean (Lori) Snyder and Kerri Lynn (Anthony) Garcia, all of FL; a sister, June Hungerford of Rochester, NY; five great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Joan Snyder of FL; several nieces and nephews and many good friends. In addition to her husbands, she is predeceased by two sons, Lynn Whiting and Larry Snyder. Relatives and friends may attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Medina United Methodist Church, 11004 W. Center St. Ext. with the Pastor, Rev. Tony G.
