Leora B. Meland, 100, formally of Lyndonville, NY, was reunited with her loving husband, LeRoy “Bub” Meland in heaven on Monday, October 2, 2017 at the Beechwood Continuing Care, Getzville, NY.

Leora was born on January 25, 1917 in Waterport, NY; she was the daughter of the late Dell Roy and Martha Leora (Burke) Bennage. Leora graduated Valedictorian from Waterport School and she married the late Bub Meland on December 7, 1935 and together they made their home in Lyndonville raising two children. At one time she worked for Smith’s Store and later worked as a Officer at the former Central Trust Bank of Lyndonville, retiring in 1982 after 25 years of service. She was a very active, lifelong member of the Lyndonville United Methodist Church and enjoyed traveling with the Busy Buddies on day trip’s and cruises. Leora was a member of the Literary Historical Society where she enjoyed giving reviews on books that she read. Leora loved a good bridge game, but most of all she relished spending time with her family.

Leora is survived by her two children, Judy Eppolito of Clarence Center, NY; Larry (Nancy) Meland of East Amherst, NY; six grandchildren, Nicki (Kevin) Robison, Jack (Deby) Eppolito, Jill (Rick Heavern) Barden, Michael (Jacqueline) Meland, William Meland, Thomas (Kathleen) Meland; 14 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren and two nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she is predeceased by two siblings, Helen Scharping, John Bennage and a son-in-law, John Eppolito.

Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, October 7, 2017, from 11 AM-12 Noon at the Lyndonville United Methodist Church, 102 N. Main St. Lyndonville, NY 14098, where a Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM with the Pastor, Rev. Beth Malone officiating. Burial will be in the Lynhaven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Leora’s name to: Lyndonville United Methodist Church, or to: Muscular Dystrophy Association, 1425 W. Jefferson Rd. #19, Rochester, NY 14623.
