Kenneth Barry Neal, “Barry,” went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 14th, 2017 at the Medina Memorial Hospital.
He was born on October 21, 1937 in Lyndonville, NY. He was the son of the late Ralph Kenneth and Jeannette (Barry) Neal.
He was a 1955 graduate of Lyndonville Central School and a 1959 graduate of Barrington College in Rhode Island. He married Dorothy Krauss on June 14, 1959, together making their home in Lyndonville and raising four children. He was an elementary school teacher and reading specialist for 18 years at Barker, Waterport, and Albion schools. He started and managed several businesses, including Neal Farms, KBN Lumber, and Country Contracting. He was a public servant having been a Town Justice of Yates for over 30 years. He was a member of Yates Baptist Church, having served as both Deacon and Trustee at different times. He was also a member of Farm Bureau and the New York State Magistrates Association. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, woodworking, and travel. Barry was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed spending time and working on projects with his children and grandchildren. He had a zest for life that was unmatched—full of good humor, hard work, and numerous accomplishments. He had a generous heart for helping people through his work in the school, church, and local community. He leaves a legacy of faith and good works that will long be remembered.
He is survived by his devoted wife and best friend of 58 years, Dotty, his four children Jon (Carol) Neal of Lyndonville, Carole (Glen) Steffler of Beaver Falls, PA, Colleen (Jim) Figucia of Woburn, MA, and Lynn Neal of Winston-Salem, NC. He had seven grandchildren, Maegan (Joseph Suhr), Brandon Neal, Mitchell (Alethea) Steffler, Caleb (Shelby) Steffler, Emily Steffler, Sarah (James) Anderton, and Andrew Figucia, and three great-grandchildren, his brother Ralph William (Bill) Neal, his sisters, Elizabeth (John) Vallance, and Barbara (Ray) Dunn.
There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 20th, at 11:00 am at Yates Baptist Church, 11365 E. Yates Center Road, Lyndonville, NY 14098 with the Pastor, Rev. Lyell Drake officiating. Burial will be in the Lynhaven Cemetery at the family’s convenience.
