Joyce M. “Joy” Houseman, 83, of Lyndonville, NY, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 25, 2016, at the Medina Memorial Hospital. Born on October 26, 1933 in the Town of Somerset, NY, she was the daughter of the late Otto and Hazel (Allen) Heideman. Joy grew up on the Countyline Rd. and attended Barker School. On August 6, 1952 she married Albert Houseman and together they raised two children. In 1964, she started as a cafeteria worker for the Lyndonville Central School System and retired as a Head Cook in 1991. She attended the Medina United Methodist Church and enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Albert Houseman, two children, Delane (Lisa) Houseman of Barre, VT., Sandra (Glen) Gapa of Lyndonville, grandchildren, Shawn (Lacy) Houseman, Jason (Jillian) Houseman, Derek (Laura) Houseman, William Gapa, Victoria (Jason) Hill, Nathanial and Meghan Gapa, Keera (Clint) Relation, Kyle Dennis, eleven great-grandchildren, Andrew, Cassandra, Tamara, Aurora, Amelia, Aralyn, Samuel, Aaliyah, Elijah, Ellie, Addie, adopted daughter, Roxane (Paul) Mann and Kyle and Justin, siblings, Raymond (Kay) Heideman, Joan (Francis) Woodward, all of Lyndonville, Linda Hall of Medina and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a sister and five brothers. Relatives and friends may call on Friday, December 30, 2016, from 4:00-8:00 PM at the Bogan & Tuttle Funeral Home, 112 N. Main St. Lyndonville, NY 14098. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, 10:00 AM at the Medina United Methodist Church, 11004 W. Center St. Ext. Medina, NY 14103, with the Pastor, Rev. Tony G. Hipes officiating and burial will be in the Lynhaven Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Joy’s name to: Hospice of Orleans Co. P.O.Box 489, Albion, NY 14411.
