Edith M. “Marie” Cornelius, 91, of Medina, NY, passed away suddenly on Monday, July 31, 2017 at the United Memorial Hospital, Batavia, NY. 

Edith was born in Canada on November 21, 1925 to the late Ralph and Esther (Canham) and Ruby (Smith) Cornelius.

Edith graduated from Medina High School and was employed for 43 years with Delco of Rochester, where she retired from in 1988. She was a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan and later in life she enjoyed watching Fox News. Edith was the Matriarch of the family, making sure her brothers were well taken care of. Christmas was her favorite time of year and she played the role of Santa, being very generous to her family and friends. Her gentile smile and giving nature will be sadly missed by her loved ones and who knew. Her family and friends were very lucky to have her in their lives.

Edith is survived by her sibling’s Shirley Dwyer of Buffalo, Gary (Cindy) Cornelius of Middleport, Gene (Vic) Cornelius of New Hampshire and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews and close friends

. Besides her father and mother’s, Edith is predeceased by her sibling’s Sara Banas, Jack and roger Cornelius. There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at the West Ridgeway Cemetery, Medina.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Edith’s name to the Joint Veteran’s Council Van Service, 13996 Rt. 31 W. Albion, NY 14411.
