Donald Crandall Obituary

Donald I. “Don” Crandall, 95, of the Town of Ridgeway, NY, entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 2, 2018, at the NYS Veterans Home in Batavia, NY.

 Born on January 24, 1923 in Kendall, NY, he was the son of the late Daniel and Frances (Greene) Crandall . Upon graduating from Kendall High School, he entered into the US Army, earning the rank of Corporal. During World War II, he served in Germany as a radio operator. Upon returning home, Don attended Cornell University where he received a degree in Engineering. At one time, he worked at Bell Aerospace and later retired from FMC in Middleport NY. Don was married to the former Jayne Eaton, who passed away in December of 1973. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Lions Club and the United Methodist Church. Don was a dedicated blood donor and in his spare time, he enjoyed photography, bike riding and was also an avid reader.

Don is survived by his three sons, Paul Taylor of Medina, NY, Scott (Teri) Crandall of Red Wood City, California and Peter (Sandy) Crandall of Lockport, NY, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, David (Eleanor) Crandall of Middleport, NY and a brother-in-law Chuck (Bonnie) Eaton of Medina, NY with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his wife, Don is predeceased by two sisters, Helen Perry and Mazy Ovenshire.

Relatives and friends may call on Friday, March 9th, 2018, from 5-8 pm at the Bogan & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St. Medina, NY, where a funeral will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am with the Pastor Rev. Tony Hipes. Military Honors will accorded at the Funeral Home by members of Lincoln Post #1483 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Butts-Clark Post #204 American Legion. Burial will be at a later date at the West Ridgeway Cemetery.
