Daniel Lewis Hewitt, 56, of Medina, NY, passed away suddenly on Monday, March 6, 2017, at Buffalo General Hospital. Born on August 18, 1960 in Medina, NY, he was the son of the late Alex G. and Jessie (Carpenter) Hewitt Jr. Dan graduated from Medina High School in 1978 where he was very active in sports, including tennis, skiing and golf. After graduating, he moved to Florida where he owned and operated a cellular and audio business and later worked as a realtor selling real estate. He returned to Medina in 2012. He was a loyal Buffalo Bills and Sabers Fan and was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Knights of Columbus and Shelridge County Club. He is survived by two daughters, Holly and Kaylin Hewitt and two sons, Drew Jurow and Kyle Johnson, three granddaughters, Kami, Riley and Koah, all of Florida, a brother, Thomas Hewitt, two sisters, Kelly (Sam) Brennan, Darlene (Brian) Janas, many nieces and nephews, and a companion, Michele Crandall and her son, Conor. Daniel is predeceased by his sister, Bonnie Kujawa. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 2PM - 4PM at the American Legion Post 204, 305 N. Main St., Medina, NY 14103. There will also be An Hour of Remembrance Service at Faith Bible Baptist Church, 3064 N. Gravel Rd., Medina, On Sunday, April 23, 2017 at 11AM to be followed by a coffee and cookie reception. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made in Dan’s name to the Medina Fire Department, 600 Main St. Medina, NY 14103.
