Claybon Smith, 69, of Medina, NY, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at the Martin-Linsin Residence, Albion, NY, after a short illness.

Born on September 25, 1948 in Gill, AR, he was the son of the late Zinie and Eronia (Ray) Smith.

Claybon grew up in Gill, AR, were he excelled in football, basketball and track. In 1975, he moved to the Albion/Medina area. He was employed with Duffy-Mott Foods and later retired from Ontario Foods of Albion, NY. He married the former Emmeritt Massey on November 4, 2017. Claybon enjoyed hunting, fishing and walking his three dogs, Lady, Molley and Lulu.

Besides his wife Emmeritt, he is survived by five siblings, George Smith and Bernestine Smith, both of Arkansas, Don (Aretha) Akers of Chicago, James (Marilyn) Akers of Texas, Lee Akers of Arkansas and a host of nieces and nephews, also, a best friend, Jim Tabor of Medina, NY.

Relatives and friends may call on Monday, November 20, 2017 from11 AM-12PM at the Bogan & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St. Medina, NY 14103, where a funeral service will be held at 12 Noon with the Rev. Eddie English officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
